When the schedule and application details for the next residency program are confirmed, announcements will be made on this website.
My journey as a ceramist has started in my late 30’s, moving to Florence, Italy, with my husband and my two kids for family reasons I took the opportunity to pause my work as a fashion accessory designer and decided to enroll at the Academy of Fine Arts, to never go back to my previous job.
Since 2022 my work explores the potential of ceramics through the creation of self produced glazes derived from natural elements collected in different areas. This practice, rooted in an intimate dialogue with the landscape, aims to construct an allusive aesthetic that strives to remain open to embracing the unexpected as a poetic and formal value.
The artistic intention is to build an Atlas, considered as systematic collector of natural and anthropological elements, distinguished for the relational and exchange meaning, highlighting the inevitable influences that these elements have on the final work, considering that the real value of a work lies on the attempt, not on the result.
I strongly believe that the residency at the Mashiko Museum experience should not be limited to the production of works, but should constitute a transformative process: an opportunity for study and exchange, listen and discuss. For this reason, the project is also an exploration of self- portraiture, understood not as a representation, but as an awareness of one's own ever-changing identity, in dialogue with diverse social and cultural contexts.
